                                             Snow Day
Snow Days and Make-ups through an Alternate Method of Instruction

If school is canceled due to inclement weather, we have been granted the opportunity this year by the Arkansas Legislature and the Arkansas Department of Education to make up at least two school days through an Alternate Method of Instruction (AMI), reducing the need to add instructional days to the end of the school year.

Teachers will be sharing make-up assignments either by sending home a packet of work and/or by posting it online. They will also be available for questions if needed during the snow day. Students should turn in their completed assignments to receive credit for the missed day. It is not required that the make-up work be turned in the next day.

At Oakdale, students have been given a "Snow Day Class Instructions" document which has been attached in their planner/agenda for easy reference in case of a snow day.  Students will be instructed by their teachers ahead of time to record what to do for each class in the event of a snow day.  If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher(s).

We appreciate your patience if we use the alternate method of instruction this year. Please know that if you encounter any trouble completing the assignments, teachers will be glad to help students successfully make up the work once classes resume.

Thank you!

Beating the Odds          Beating the Odds
Oakdale has been
recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) as a school that is "Beating the Odds!"  The Office for Education Policy at the University of Arkansas creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards, and the "Beating the Odds" awards are given to schools who are serving a high percentage of students from low-income communities that are nevertheless reaching high levels of achievement.  Awards are based on the OEP-created “school GPA,” calculated on the basis of the percentage of students that perform at each level on the 2016 ACT Aspire Math, ELA, and Science. To learn more about how award winners are determined and to see the full list of award recipients, you can view the report by clicking on the following link:  Arkansas Education Report

In the report released Wednesday, March 15, Oakdale Middle School received five awards:
